Match Report

Result: No scores recorded

Playing six ten-minute matches in quick succession, this was a real test of our character, particularly since we were without Sam H today. We had a tough first game against Peterborough Lions and struggled to get out of our half. We did better against Peterborough Tigers and netted our first goal through Henry E, who fired home whilst standing virtually under the crossbar. Alastair kept goal confidently with the ever-reliable Edmund in front of him. Against Brooke Priory we enjoyed an even match though neither side could score.

We then played all three teams for a second time. Callan and Henry both had stints in goal and, though the ball eluded them from time to time, both boys pulled off some remarkable saves. Josh F was industrious playing in defensive midfield and Ellis proved to be adept at clearing our lines with booming clearances upfield. Edward B slotted home firmly against the tough Lions team and Alastair, now out on pitch, provided a fine assist for Henry’s spectacular volleyed goal as he was falling to the ground against the Tigers. Edmund suggested it was reminiscent of Mbappe’s wonderful second goal in the men’s World Cup Final in 2022 - and he was right!
