Budding Scientists

We learnt as scientists how to plan, predict , observe and collect findings. We discovered how seeds grow well by placing them in different locations (from fridge to cupboard) and put some in more unusual places (under water,  under a hot lamp, in a box of fluff). We observed over a period of time and gathered our findings in a short video.

We also planted some beans in pots and looked at germination and the process of geotropism. These are now ready to go home.

Part of the topic is also to look at flowers and we dissected fresh flowers,  labelled them scientifically and stuck them in the different parts in our science books.  To see how plants use water we are currently investigating the function of the stem using celery. We are next going to find out more about pollination and fertilisation after half term.  Well done Yr3!
