Cricket County Finals

We hosted the Semi-Final of the U13 County Indoor Girls’ Cricket on Thursday 23rd January. Our first game was against QEGS, Alford.  Alford batted first and we were soon in the wickets after some excellent bowling from Alicia, Kitty, Jemima, April and Harriet.  We also fielded well with Jemima and Harriet taking great catches.  Alford finished on 55 after their 8 overs.  In reply we made a fast start with Jemima retiring on 15 and Kitty hitting some lovely 4s back past the bowler.  Although we lost 4 wickets we reached our target comfortably with more than 2 overs left.

We still needed to win our next game against St Giles School in order to qualify for the final.  We batted first this time. Jemima once again retired - after hitting a 6 and there was some excellent running between the wickets by Megan, Faith and Ela at the end to get us to 85.  We once again picked up wickets early, but we gave away too many wides (worth 3 runs!) so St Giles also scored quite quickly.  Harriet bowled an excellent over conceding only 3 runs and Kitty and Jemima finished off the bowling to leave St Giles on 75 and a win by 10 runs.

The girls are delighted to have achieved a place in the final on Tuesday 4th March. A super performance by all the girls and particularly April, Harriett, Verity and Faith who were younger than all the opposition players!
