Lincolnshire County Golf Championships (A)
Megan - 1st
Sebastian - 2nd
St Hugh’s - Winners
On Monday the 12th May, Seb and I travelled to South Kyme Golf Club for the Lincolnshire Schools County Golf Championship. This competition sees players across the county competing over 18 holes Stableford. Players can compete as individuals but also as part of their school team, usually made up of three golfers with the best two scores to count.
I was teeing off at 10:24 and Seb was teeing off at 12:10. The round was slow and hard given that there were over 60 people playing and there was some very strong wind. The round lasted nearly 5 hours for myself and a good four and a half hours for Seb. This was quite a test in 26 degrees!
I ended up finishing my round extremely happy with some very good long game shots after some struggles over the winter months! I was delighted with a new PB gross of 95, and first ever time breaking 100. After a nice burger I headed out to watch Seb finish his last few holes.
Once Seb had finished and he had had his food we had a nervous wait for the rest of the scores to come in. In the end St Hugh’s had a lot of success with me finishing 1st with 44 points out of 15 girls. Seb did amazingly to finish 2nd with 39 points in the boys competition which is really impressive considering it was a very strong field of 45 boys. Seb was the youngest by a long way as some of the boys were doing their GCSEs or A levels whilst Seb is only in Year 6!
To top it all of St Hugh’s won the whole competition which was outstanding as to win you took the best 2 scores from a team of 3 but obviously St Hugh’s only had a team of 2 so both our scores had to count. It was definitely a day to remember and there were lots of amazing shots played by both of us, especially Seb’s 5 iron shot on the 18th!
