Match Report
St Hugh’s hosted the annual U9 Football Festival this week. We welcomed four schools: Ayscoughee Hall, Greenwich House, St George’s and St Martin’s. St Hugh’s also had two teams mixing our Year 3 and 4 boys across Reds and Blues. St Hugh’s Reds played St Martin’s first - the game was end to end with some exciting attempts of goal for both Beau, Edward and Harry. George P had a great game in goal having to work hard due to a St Martin’s player having a fantastic right foot. Next up we played our own St Hugh’s Blue team. Neither team held back - Beau and Gio both challenged each other on the ball and Freddie and Charlie had some good battles for possession. Our next game saw St Hugh’s Reds take on Greenwich House. Freddie and Joseph made some impressive runs with the ball and Edward R and Edward P worked hard in defence. A great team effort from everyone on the pitch. Next fixture the Reds faced St George’s. This was a tough game with some solid tackling from both teams. In possession we were really dangerous and Beau made some great breaks finishing with some good shots on goal. Our final game was Ayscoughee - the boys showed great sportsmanship with three of our players taking turns to play for the opposition so everyone could play. The game was well matched with some great battles for possession. The St Hugh’s Reds moved the ball well with some great passing between William, Hugo and Joshua. A great afternoon of football on display by all the boys. Well done!
