Match Report

Result: 4 wins!

It was a super afternoon for the U11B team who travelled to Stamford on Wednesday for a hockey festival. The girls faced teams from Witham Hall, Brooke Priory, Stamford and Stoneygate. This week Michelle captained the side and took on this role well. The girls seemed a little flat on arrival but after a thorough warm up, they livened up and were eager to get on the pitch.

From the first whistle, the St Hugh’s side worked hard to gain possession of the ball and did incredibly well as a team to transition the ball into our attacking D. There was some superb passing throughout the festival and the girls showed great awareness in both attack and defence.

Though she did not have a lot of pressure, Olivia displayed great confidence in goal and made some fabulous saves! India and Michelle worked hard at the back putting in some solid tackles to regain possession for the team. I was also impressed by how well they distributed the ball using the width of the pitch.

On the wings, Charlotte and Ela demonstrated their ability to carry the ball but also see a pass. It was very encouraging to watch them shifting the ball early to Lulu, who did a great job as our striker. In the centre, Frankie worked her socks off and was a strong link between defence and attack.

An afternoon full of goals (Frankie, Lulu, Charlotte, Ela) but more importantly a fabulous team effort. We did not concede a goal and were delighted to win every match.

Well done to all involved!
