Match Report

Results: Brooke Priory 1-0 W, Wisbech GS 5-0 W, Elms 2-1 W, Copthill 3-1 W

A super afternoon for the U11A hockey team on Wednesday. The girls travelled once again, this time to Stamford Junior School, for a festival which saw over thirty teams playing hockey! St Hugh’s played as part of a group of five schools, facing Brooke Priory, Wisbech GS, Elms and Copthill.

Following a great game last week against LMS, the team started strongly and it was very encouraging to see them moving the ball around the pitch so confidently. We dominated possession in the majority of games and this was down to great team work and having trust in one another. This did however mean that Megan had a very quiet afternoon as goalkeeper but she was able to observe her teammates and ensure her defensive players were doing their job!

There were some well timed tackles by Annabel and Alicia at the back and it was brilliant to see them offering turnout passes to relieve pressure. Jemima played a key role in the centre of the pitch and thanks to her and the defence, we saw a lot of play down the wings. Kitty and Millie showed great stickwork skills and their movement off the ball also impressed me. Tabitha played as our only Year 5 pupil and coped well in her role as striker, scoring on several occasions. Other goals came from Kitty, Jemima and Millie.

Fabulous effort by the U11A team. We look forward to our first home match next week!
