The U11’S played host to Glebe on Wednesday in an exciting and evenly matched game. The first quarter saw St Hugh’s scrape the lead with a 3 goals to Glebe’s 2. The second quarter was heavily defensive on both sides, with the ball struggling to make it into the shooting circles. The mid court players worked their socks off attempting to slip the ball to the shooters resulting in only one more goal for each team to end the first half. The St Hugh’s girls were determined to increase their lead and really stepped up their movement in the second half, intercepting more balls and passing quickly through the channels. Capitalising on Glebe’s tiredness from travelling, the home team were able to work the ball around them gaining many goal scoring opportunities. St Hugh’s succeeded in scoring 3 more goals and prevented Glebe from furthering their score.
The final result saw St Hugh’s win 7-3; a tough game but a well-deserved success for the U11 A’s. They look forward to travelling to Lincoln Minster next week in their final match of this half term.
