U11A Triangular fixture v. Copthill and Grantham

A strong Copthill side faced us in the first game and playing against a strong wind in the first half made our task doubly difficult. We withheld continued pressure throughout most of the half though we unfortunately conceded on two occasions. In the second half with a slight change of formation and with the wind at our backs we managed to make a couple of forays forward without really troubling their keeper too much. We were steadfast at the back though, and Eddie (Gk), George and Joseph in defence kept a clean sheet for the second period.

The second tie v Grantham was a much closer affair. They took the lead after an unfortunate own goal from one of their corners. We rallied in the second half in this match too, though and we strung some neat passes together between George, Henry B , Charlie and finally William B. who poked the ball past their keeper to equalize. It was nip and tuck from then on with both teams pressing for a winner. Unfortunately they found a player unmarked in our area and grabbed the victory from us.
