Match Reports

U11A

Result: Won 6-0

After a frenetic and unsteady start, a rather Route 1 drop kick from goalie AJ straight up to Toby in the opposition half saw him bear down on their goal and slot home comfortably. First match nerves then settled a little and further goals followed, notably a well worked corner to the back post by James straight onto Josh’s head who directed the ball neatly past their keeper. Burton threatened on several occasions and had some useful attacking players, though AJ looked assured in goal and kept a deserved clean sheet with good support from the defensive pairing of Charles and Max. We shuffled the formations around a bit which disrupted some of our rhythm but all the boys put in excellent effort, often playing in unfamiliar positions. There were glimpses of some really cultured passing, moving the ball efficiently around the pitch which was very pleasing to see - more of this next time as well please, boys! Plenty to work on, but a very promising start to the season.

Goals: James, Josh (2), Toby, Fergus, Charlie

Assists: AJ, Fergus, James, Josh, Will

U11B

Result: W 15-1

This was a great way to start the season and the ‘B’ team certainly had their shooting boots on. It probably won't be the strongest opposition that they will face this season but there were some very encouraging signs, particularly the passing around the goal area. Rory S was particularly effective on the right wing and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. It could be a battle for the Golden Boot this season!

Goals: Eli 5, Euan 3, George 3, Edward 1, Rupert 1, Sam 2
