Match Reports

A Team

Result: Won 5-3

A very pleasing team performance again this week. We had to adapt a little to the smaller pitch as there were fewer spaces to be found. However, the players stuck well to their positions, at least in the first third of the match, and started to pass the ball around with accuracy and confidence. We created some great opportunities without taking the lead, until we were awarded a penalty which William dispatched with assurance. After that we continued to dominate possession and win the ball back with effective pressing, going into the first break 3-0 up. Early on after the interval, Aydin decided to control a firm cross with his nose; rather unorthodox, but it set him up for a crisp finish….and a streaming nosebleed. Down to six players, we came under increased pressure and Minster came back into the match. With the scoreline at 4-3 we retook the initiative and produced some football which was very pleasing on the eye - some deft short passing and expansive longer range passes too. A final goal superbly finished by Max saw us end up 5-3 winners.

Scorers: Will L (2), Toby O, Aydin, Max

B Team

Result: Won 13-0

After showing some good football without the goals to show for it last week, we made up for it on our visit to Lincoln Minster. We were very attack minded and dominated the entire match. Fergus began the game in defence but soon realised he would not see much of the ball, so moved forward and scored four goals! Charlie T was also on target three times. There were also goals for Euan, Eli and Rupert. I was impressed by the passing, particularly in front of goal. Well done boys.

C Team

Result: Drew 1-1

The C team put in a strong performance against the Minster B team. They dominated most of the game and had a number of excellent chances to score. We were guilty of rushing our shots a little, but in the second half Toby W managed to score. We looked like we were going to add to our score, but with only a couple of minutes left Minster had a rare attack and managed to bundle the ball past Arthur to make the score 1-1. A very good effort, and a little unlucky.
