Match Reports
A Team
Result: Lost 2-1
The Year 5 and 6 boys travelled to Oakham to play hockey. The A team played a really impressive match against Oakham A team. The first half was very even, Oakham managed to score two goals and we replied with one of our own from William L. After a half time team talk, where it was decided to close the opposition players down more quickly, we came out determined for the 2nd half. We dominated the play, having numerous attempts on goal. The Oakham goalkeeper made a number of excellent saves using his feet, stick and body to keep out our efforts. Wilf and Aydin had excellent efforts that crashed against the post and were cleared by their defence and Euan, Jenson and Max pushed forward to add to the attacking strength. Will L took a nasty blow to his knee with five minutes to go but we still created more chances. Somehow Oakham managed to hang on to win, but I am not quite sure how! A great performance and a huge improvement from the start of the season.
B Team
Result: Won 3-0
The U11B team put in a fantastic performance against Oakham B’s with Rupert in particular playing superbly whilst scoring a hat trick. His distribution was very good and everyone used the space effectively to stretch Oakham. The team also defended as one high up the pitch meaning that Eli was rarely troubled in goal though he also ensured that the team kept a clean sheet by saving a penalty in the final minute.
C Team
Result: Lost 3-0
Playing the same team as the B’s, the C’s had a slightly tougher ask as they did not have the same power of pass as the opposition and so found themselves hemmed into their own half at the beginning of the game and conceding goals as a result. However, as the game wore on, they started to use the space much better and were unlucky not to score in open play or indeed from a penalty. They should however, be commended for their efforts which never flagged.
