Report

An U11 and U13 team competed in the Annual Worksop Cross Country on Tuesday afternoon. With four counters per team, we knew it had to be a real team effort and every runner worked hard around the tough 2km and 3km course.

In the U11 girls race Aurora led the St Hugh's pack from the start and she kept the leading pack in sight throughout. Aurora finished in a very respectable 12th place from a field of 84 girls! Our next three runners  - Beth, Annabel S and Penny crossed the line in very close proximity a St Hugh's took 20th, 22nd and 24th. Jasmine followed having ran a good leg following illness the day before. Although we didn't place as a team, we look forward to seeing where we finished overall when the results come through.

The boys followed and ran the same 2km course as the girls. William had a good start and led the St Hugh's boys around the course. He was the first finished in 19th from a field of 72 runners. The boys worked hard to ensure they pushed one and other and the remainder of the team, like the girls, crossed the line with only one or two other competitors between them. Freddid was second boy home in 29th, Matthew 31st, Freddie 33rd and Harry 34th.

The U13 boys tackled a tough 3km course and the race saw Henry gain a strong position in the leading pack right away. Henry ran at an impressive 3km pace and worked away to ensure he kept his position in the top 5. With around 200m to the finish line Henry picked up g is pace in an attempt to take 3rd place but was unlucky to just miss out, finishing in an impressive 4th place! Henry's achievement was acknowledged in the presentations following match teas. Jack C was our second boy home having that a good run and despite tripping at the start. He had to work even harder to get himself up the ladder and he was pleased to finish 7th! Ben came in at 12th and performed well in his first cross country competition for the school. Alfie showed great resilience throughout the race and completed the U13 team, finishing 19th. The boys finished 3rd overall in their age group.

Well done to all runners! It was great to see you supporting one and others during the afternoon.
