A really hard-fought victory against a strong Minster side today. It was a tight affair with the sides level 0-0 at half time. The small pitch was not conducive to a neat passing game, though we tried to string some passes together in the right areas of the pitch. Morgan in goal kept us in the game with a smart double save in the first half. With our well marshalled defence of Freddie N and Matthew K the second half saw us give very few chances away, until a handball in the area gave Minster the chance to lead from the penalty spot. Fortunately it was put wide and we forged on with the dogged midfield of Ethan, Harry M and Harrison getting vital tackles in and pressing ahead. William B upfront held the line superbly and threatened on numerous occasions with his pace and guile. Towards the end of the game Matthew’s speculative punt from inside his own half bamboozled their keeper who could only tip the ball into the net and give us the advantage at 1-0. A really gritty, hard-working performance which was justly rewarded with a late winner – a superb effort boys, you should all be proud of your performances today.
