Match Report

Result: Win x 2, Loss

The U11A girls were pleased to pick up an additional last minute fixture against Stamford and Kimbolton. Our first match saw the girls face a well drilled Stamford A team. Though they dominated possession and had more attacking opportunities than us, we defended brilliantly as a team, putting in some superb tackles and distributing the ball using the width of the pitch! Megan put in some pleasing saves and is beginning to learn which shots to save and which to see over the backline. However, lots of pressure from the Stamford side led to three well executed goals in 12 minutes.  Our second match was against the Stamford B team and this was a different game altogether. St Hugh’s very much dominated play though we did not play as well as we had against the stronger side. In the second half of this game we did begin to gel better as a team though there was little communication which impacted on our game. There was some pleasing drives on the wing from Millie and it was great to see her confidently pop one away to put the girls ahead. Finally, we played Kimbolton B team who were less experienced than ourselves but it was pleasing to see the girls working together and playing the kind of hockey we have seen over the season. We just need to be more vocal - on the pitch that is, not the bus! Well done girls and good luck for your final game of the season next week at Oakham. Remember TEAMWORK makes the DREAMWORK!
