RESULT St Hugh’s: 282 from 15 overs; Minster 219 from 15 overs (innings start on 200 runs)
A pairs match enabled every player to bat and bowl. We batted first and took a while to accrue many runs, though we thankfully lost few wickets. Eddie E came in to bat with Freddie H and together they accelerated our run rate (Eddie 23 runs). Matthew and Sam N, the final pair, continued to pile on the runs (Matthew 28 runs), despite a brief stoppage for passing bees (!) and we ended at a decent 282 total. We bowled and fielded fantastically. On a small pitch we restricted boundaries with some excellent dives, scoops and run-outs. Henry E & Morgan’s efforts spring to mind. Freddie N kept wicket well on a wicket with variable bounce and took an outstanding one-handed diving catch. Wicket takers were Henry E (3), Timothy, Eddie (2) & Freddie H who took his first Under 11 A team wicket! Well done boys – a super performance, particularly in the field.

LM opened the game by batting first on a glorious sunny afternoon at the Lindum Cricket ground. They got off to a flying start and scored 85 runs after the first 10 overs. Some determined and more focused bowling from the St Hugh's boys pegged the batting team back and (playing the pairs format) took a number of wickets including a stunning catch from Thomas B off the bowling of Harry S. LM's run tally stalled with further wickets falling and ended on 86 runs. St Hugh's opened their batting with great endeavour but failed to put enough runs on the board. Two boundaries from Ralph C did help the run chase but we eventually ended up on 68 runs.
