U11A Report

Our final game of the season was another extremely tight match. Rain had given the pitch a nice slick surface to play on, though the strong wind provided the worst of conditions to play football. However, both teams managed to produce a competitive game with spells of  good quality passing. Nil-nil at half time with neither team really making clear cut chances, Grantham probably had the upper hand in terms of possession and pressure. With a little change of position we came out at half time with better balance about the team. We were on top for the first five minutes or so and fortunately managed to capitalise with a smartly taken goal from the edge of the area by Will B. Grantham increased the pressure but we held out with some resolute defending by Matthew, Freddie N and Morgan in goal. A special mention must be made for Freddie R who played for the A team for the first time and put in a great performance. The boys should be extremely proud of their season, their work-rate and teamwork have enabled the team to achieve a 100% record. This is the first time I can recall that this has happened for an Under 11A side – very well done boys!
