Match Report
Result: King’s 101-8, S-H’s 70 all out (Lost)
It was a hot afternoon, a good wicket and a fast outfield as we bowled first against King’s School Grantham in the semi-final of the County Cup competition. We made an excellent start with Will L bowling 2 batsmen in the fist over and Aydin getting another wicket in the 3rd over. King’s made a small recovery before Euan came on to bowl some accurate off-spin and picked up 2 wickets with his first 2 balls! James F also bowled well and we had King’s 86 for 8. However, a 9th wicket partnership meant King’s finished on 101 for 8 after 20 overs.
King’s bowled pretty well and, although we scored quite quickly we lost wickets too regularly and we were soon 35-7 after only 6 overs. William L batted very well and managed to get to 16 before he ran out of partners with the score on 70 with 4 overs to go. A little more determination in the batting and putting a higher price on our wickets could have led to a very close finish.
