Reports
U13A
The game did not start well as we conceded a soft goal as the ball crept over the line in the corner within the first minute. However, this was not a sign of things to come as the defence started to improve their marking. William H was providing attacking intent moving forward as well as tracking back on his winger. Nathan H and Henry H were starting to control the game, however the Witham defenders were well organised tackling well within the D. Half time was 1-0 to Witham Hall.
In the second half St. Hugh’s continued to have the majority of the control of the game without making too many chances until Nathan scored on 7 minutes with some fine individual skill. He nearly went one better a minute later with some great control of the ball over the defender. However, neither team was to find a winner with the defences on top. Final score 1-1. We next move on to Worksop undefeated; however we are expecting a hard game following last year fixture.
U13B
With a new keeper in goal, the U13 B's began a little unsure of their positions but soon fell into sync. Some fantastic through balls were played by Harry N to the wingers, gaining some positive scoring opportunities. Witham showed a high level of discipline and attacked St Hughs hard from all angles on the pitch. The St Hugh's defence did extremely well to hold off a multitude of attempts at goal. Keeper Harry S managed to clear a plethora of shots, relaying them out to the wings. Some fantastic tackling seen from Digby and Jake allowed St Hughs some brilliant attacking chances.
The last 10 minutes of the match saw St Hugh's step up their play, pushing Witham further back into their defensive 25. Some fantastic play from the wings to forward, Charlie, saw St Hugh's narrowly miss two superb chances at goal.
A really great team effort against a very tough Witham team. Well done boys.
