U13 Boys’ Hockey v Oakham (A) 2.30pm

Match Report

Result: As W 5-0, Bs L 4-1

The U13 boys hockey teams travelled to Oakham on Wednesday 8th February.  On a cold day, it took five minutes before we opened the scoring as Elliot tucked home a short corner. It was another 12 minutes before Elliot scored his and our second goal. In between our goals some brilliant saves from Brandon kept us in the game. After half time, Dan scored our third from a short corner before Elliot scored his third after a further five minutes. Huxley was working hard with his pressing of the defence and causing turnover ball. On the stroke of full time we converted our third short corner as Elliot deflected the ball home. Final score 5-0 to St Hugh’s. Man of the Match was Brandon for some awesome goals.

The Bs were on second under Wilf’s captaincy and he was organising his troops. There was no score in the first 10 minutes but then Oakham scored two in quick succession. However, we pulled one back as Aydin scored. We were making the opportunities and breaking forward fast. In the second half we played even better team hockey passing the ball around and looking for each other; Jenson was distributing well from the back and Raul sweeping well. Annoyingly Oakham scored a further two goals and ran out 4-1 winners.
