Match Report
Result: Won 207-176
On a bitterly cold April Thursday afternoon, we welcomed Lincoln Minster to St Hugh’s. Fully wrapped up, we fielded first and our bowling was very accurate. Although Hatty and Annabel took no wickets in the first few overs they pinned the batters down and restricted runs well. The bowling continued in the same consistent vein and the fielding was exceptional - the ball was carefully picked up and returned with accuracy which was especially admirable when fingers were numbed by the northerly winds! Daniel bowled out our first wicket during a good spell of bowling and six more wickets fell during the remainder of the innings, most notably one from a remarkable catch taken on the run and cleanly held by Leo at mid-on.
With a total of 76 to reach, we confidently set about chipping away at their score. Excellent communication between the wickets was noticeable and we scored many useful quick singles as well as some glorious big boundaries. The runs scored for each pair were as follows:
- Rico & Leo - 34
- Annabel & Hatty - 31
- Freya & Ruby - 19
- Poppy & Harry B - 23
- Brandon & Daniel - 8
- Henrietta & Imogen - 8
A really impressive performance - great concentration and competitiveness shown throughout the game in un-cricket-like conditions - well done all!
