The Girls U13 hockey team, supported by two Year 6 girls, travelled to Lindum to represent St. Hugh's in the Lincolnshire Hockey tournament against Bourne Grammar, Stamford and Lincoln Minster.
Our opening game was against Bourne and in the first 12 minute half we conceded two goals. Our focus in the second half was to defend in greater numbers as well as rotating our substitutes more frequently in order to keep energy levels high. A further two goals conceded in the second half led Bourne to a 4-0 win.
Our team was Amelia in goal, defence of Aurora and Lucy, midfield of Annabel, wingers of Jasmine and Alice and Captain Kelsey was forward. Our substitutes of Beth and Penny rolled on for any of the forward 3 players.
Our second game was against Stamford and going into half time having only conceded one goal our structure was better. However, in the second half we let in a further 3; although two of these were outstanding reverse stick hits high to the net.
Our final game was against Lincoln Minster and again we had a good first half only conceding two goals. However, in the final half as we tired and they pressed our free hits, with our players hidden, we let in a further four.
Despite the results the girls displayed good teamwork, effort levels and resilience.
