Match Reports

A Team

Result: Win 5-0

On Wednesday the 9th of February the St Hugh’s Boys' Hockey A team played Oakham U12Bs.

The boys started strongly and with purpose and soon got the first goal on three minutes turned in by Harry S. They continued with fast moving forward hockey and Captain Thomas B got the second on six minutes. Six minutes later Harry S got his second of the game. Elliot scored the team’s 4th a minute later.  With Dan G moving onto the wing rather than his normal defensive duties he converted the 5th by lifting the ball into the net. A 5-0 half time score was very pleasing and reflective of the pressure applied.

In the second half the Oakham team showed more mettle and with their rolling subs we were unable to score any further goals. Man of the match awarded by the opposition was Elliot A.

B Team

Result: Win 7-1

The B team took on Oakham U12Cs.

After five minutes, Harry H opened the scoring for St Hugh’s. Oakham replied a minute later as Brandon cleared the ball onto his own post only for it to be pushed home.

Harry got his second on 10 minutes and then Spike Haigh, who was having a great game, scored himself before Harry completed a first half hat-trick.

In the second half St Hugh’s continued to play strong attacking hockey and scored a further three by Harry, Rico L and Spike with his second. Final score was 7-1. The opposition chose Spike as man of the match but the whole team deserve the plaudits.
