Match Reports

The U13 Girls' Hockey A and B teams both kicked off their season at home.

A Team

Result: Won 9-0

The As were first onto the astro and immediately impressed with their dynamic forward movement and positional sense. Captain for the day, Peyia, led by example and scored the first two goals inside five minutes. Imogen opened her account on 10 minutes and Angelina scored her first after 15 minutes. At half time the team were 4-0 up. Sophie was being left isolated in defence as we pushed forward. At half time Mr Goodhand shuffled the pack to allow the girls to work in different positions. In the second half Amelia scored after five minutes and Sophie got her first on 9 minutes.  Amelia scored a minute later and then Sophie on 17 minutes. Our final goal was by Angelina on 18 minutes. Despite the heroics of the opposition keeper we ran out 9-0 winners and the opposition chose Amelia as Girl of the Game.

B Team

Result: Lost 3-0

The Bs were next up and they quickly conceded after a minute as no runners pushed out at the short corner giving Wellow time for the shot. They conceded a second on 11 minutes. In the second half the performance was much improved with Amelia starting to control the middle, Grace making good runs on the left, Henrietta played her best game in her St Hugh’s career, Poppy W kept wide on the right, Poppy H was bossing the defence, Scarlett provided an outlet on the left, Peyton swept up at the back and Lucia stepped up to the attackers. Super improvement girls. Wellow won 3-0 after scoring on four minutes in the second half. Poppy W was awarded the Girl of the Game.
