Match Report

Result: Lost 78 for 4 v 142 for 6

The U13A softball cricket team on Thursday 27th April hosted Lincoln Minster on a cold, damp, Thursday afternoon to a 4 pairs cricket game.

We batted first to set a target. Will and Raul scored 17 for the loss of only 1 wicket with Will scoring a couple of 4s. Poppy H and Florence scored a super 39 for no loss in their 4 overs with Poppy being the bigger hitter. Brandon and Sam scored 16 for 1 with Sam connecting well with the ball. Poppy W and Imogen were our last pair and they scored 6 for 2. Our final score was 78 for 4.

After a quick turn around Poppy H and Florence bowled. There were no wides and they got two wickets, however the Minster girls hit out and got 30 for 2. Next were Will and Raul, unfortunately a quarter of their delivery were wides, however they took 4 wickets, Will 3 and Raul 1, to restrict the pair to 5 for 4. Our third bowling pair were Brandon and Sam, they did well to concede only one wide in all their 24 deliveries, however the Minster girls were punishing the bowling and scored 42 for none. The final bowling pair were Imogen and Poppy W again a quarter of the deliveries were extras and a lot of the others were scoring balls so they conceded 65 for no wicket in their 4 overs. Minster's final score was 142 for 6.

Not a great day for cricket but we know we need to work on our bowling accuracy.

Cricket Trousers for hardball

A polite reminder that all players must have their own school badged cricket trousers in school on match days. These should be taken home to wash unless your child is boarding the night of the fixture (in which case they should be taken to laundry). Any issues with the above please email Mrs Felton before Wednesday. Players have been informed they will not be allowed to represent the school with dirty cricket whites. Match tops will be provided. If these go home after an away fixture, please return to launrdy the following morning (they may need to be washed at home to avoid staining).

Hardball Kit

Though it is not complulsory to have their own cricket bag and equipment, we do recommend that all players purchase their own personal cricket box/abdo guard with shorts.  Skin shorts or leggings could be used as an alternative. If you have any queries about this, please email Mr Pickering who can advise further.
