Wednesday the 16th of June brought our first home game of the season as Lincoln Minster were our guests. As they were short of two pairs Joseph S, Ralph C, Emily P and Freya kindly played for their team. It was the hottest day of the year and perfect for some cricket!

Minster chose to bowl first and we were put into bat. Each pair facing 3 overs.

  • Jasmine and Annabel S scored 25, including 4 fours, and lost no wickets.
  • Thomas and Daniel scored 17, including 1 four, but lost 2 wickets so scored net 7.
  • Lucy and Aurora scored 14, including 1 four, and lost no wickets.
  • Ruby and Jasmine scored 25 for the loss of no wickets.
  • Annabel T and Hatty scored 30, including 4 fours, and lost no wickets.
  • Harry S and Harry B scored 18, including 1 four, and lost no wickets.

St. Hugh's posted 119 runs for Minster to chase. 

Bowling and wicket keeping in pairs:

  • Jasmine and Annabel restricted Minster's first pair to 20 from their 3 overs for no wicket.
  • Thomas and Daniel held their pair to only 14 and they took 1 wicket.
  • Aurora and Lucy conceded 28 runs to big hitting Joseph and Ralph including 2 fours and a six, however at the cost of 4 wickets for net 8 runs. Lucy is on a hat-trick ball in her next game.
  • Jasmine and Ruby conceded 24 runs for no wickets.
  • Hatty and Annabel bowled against Emily and Freya and conceded 26 runs, including 4 fours, but took 2 wickets for a net 16.
  • Harry S and Harry B conceded 35 runs, including 3 fours and 2 sixes from the last 2 balls. However, they took 2 wickets for a net 25.

Lincoln Minster's final score was 102.

Harry S was awarded man of the match by the opposition. The afternoon was an enjoyable game or cricket played in the right spirit.
