RESULT – Win 14.5 -  10

The U13 team travelled to Worksop on Wednesday to play their next competitive Rounders match. The first innings took great shape, with St Hugh’s fielding well as a team. The opposition struggled to gain higher than half a rounder due to St Hugh’s fielding the ball quickly to the scoring posts. Fantastic work between backstop and first post meant that seven out of the nine players were out in thirty balls, with the team and scoring just 3.5 rounders. St Hugh’s stepped up to bat, scoring multiple full rounders and showcasing impressive decision making skills. At half time the away team were in the lead with 8.5 - 3.5 rounders.

The second fielding innings and Worksop stepped up their game. Better communication from the batters meant St Hugh’s had to work harder to out-field those running around the field. Through excellent communication, St Hugh’s successfully got all the opposition players out in just 23 balls! An amazing effort on the fielding front for the U13 girls. With the home team scoring 6.5 rounders in the second innings meant that the away team felt the pressure to keep up their performance. Taking to bat for the second time, St Hugh’s worked hard to maintain their lead on Worksop by aiming the ball into the gaps in the field. Worksop were on the ball, managing to get all ten St Hugh’s players out in just 26 balls. Despite this fantastic step up in performance from Worksop, it wasn’t enough to clinch the game, resulting in a 14.5 – 10 win for St Hugh’s.

Well done girls!
