U9A Report

We started our match against Burton and were caught cold as within a few seconds they had taken the lead. After this inauspicious start, however, we grew into the game and with some steady defending stifled their skilful striker. Continuing our good work in the second half we pressed a little more and forced a corner or two. Unfortunately no real clear-cut chances came our way and despite our improving game play we could not find an equalizer.

The second game against Grantham saw an opposite situation. This time it was St Hugh’s who started very brightly and we scored through a firm strike by Thomas B to take the lead within the first minute of the game. We created a few more chances throughout the match but could not manage to add to our lead. As is often the case in these kinds of matches, Grantham managed to break away at the death and grab an equalizer.

U9B Report

The boys played exceptionally well on a very cold and blustery afternoon on the top field at St. Hugh's.  The first match against Burton Hathow ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Jackson W scoring all three goals.  After going 2-0 up early in the first half it was end to end football and Daniel S played really well in goal to ensure that we did not concede any further goals.  In the second match against Grantham the boys were a little more tentative in front of goal but the team work was excellent; Henry E marshalled the defence very well, Dan G, Kai B-R and Archer H worked hard in midfield and the result ended in a 1-1 draw.  Well done, boys! Great teamwork!
