On Tuesday 25th of September the U9 girls travelled to Barlborough Hall for a hockey festival against another 4 teams. Games were 10 minutes one way.

The first game was against Hymers College and St Hugh’s showed great determination as well as awareness of positional play and looking to make passes.  We won 2-0 with goals from Sophie T and Lucy S.  Amelia F played a battling game in the midfield and Peyton B was making good runs up front.

Our second game was against the hosts and in quite an even game, with some excellent play down the left by Poppy H, we struggled to get a final goal despite lots of pressure. Our defence of Verity S, Peyia F and Lucy S worked well together getting first to the ball and covering each other. The final score was a 0-0 draw.

Our third game was against MyInhurst and after 5 minutes Poppy H scored at the back post.  Despite lots of pressure we could not find a second despite great work by Amelia and Sophie.

Our final game was against Westbourne and we were the better hockey playing team and we were camped in their half for a lot of the game.  However, on their one break away they managed to score.  Final score was a 1-0 loss.

All in all, Mr Goodhand was very pleased with the effort, attitude, skills and team work shown by all the players. Girl of the Game goes to Amelia F for a combatant performance in all the games.
