Report

It was another positive afternoon for the U9 girls on Wednesday with all Year 3 and 4 girls representing St Hugh's away at Wellow House. Our U9B team showed great fighting spirit against Wellow's U9A team and demonstrated just how much they have progressed since the start of the season.  St Hugh’s were solid at the back with Hattie W and Emily P working together as a unit.  They worked very hard to regain possession and create attacking opportunities.  We put Wellow under a lot of pressure in their defending half and there were a few near misses!  A goal came eventually by Peyia taking St Hugh's into the lead.  However Wellow scored shorlty afterwards on the break and again in the second half.  Final score 2-1 defeat but a closely contested match!  Well done!

The U9A team faced a challenge this week with a match against a mixed Year 4-6 Wellow side.  St Hugh's played some outstanding hockey and it was extremely encouraging to see them turning out and playing the ball back in order to switch play and use the width of the pitch.  Their work rate was second to none and the girls worked hard for one and other. Goals came eventually from Penny and Ruby having had the vast majority of possession in both halfs. A very well deserved 2-0 win.  A great effort from all our U9 players!
