Match Reports

A Team

Result: Won 9-5

A hard fought game from the start!

The girls had to work hard for every pass. Grantham had three boys on their team and the girls had to adapt their game accordingly, as passes were easily intercepted and a lot of challenges were in mid air. Some excellent goals were scored from the edge of the D from both sides. The work ethic from both teams was superb. Going into the last section of the game the score was 6-5 and all to play for, India’s superb accurate shooting, scoring a further three goals in the remaining few minutes sealed the victory.

Superb effort girls; very proud!

B Team

Result: Lost 5-4

After a good journey to Grantham Prep in the minibus, the girls began their warm up alongside Grantham. Determined to do well, the U9s applied pressure to their opposition from the moment they stepped on the court to the moment the final whistle blew. Although Grantham played with an equal number of girls and boys, this did not put off Coco in her efforts to defend tirelessly as GK, nor was Arabella shaken as she managed to score the first goal of the game making it 1-0 to St Hugh's. The match was extremely tight with lots of opportunities to score, as both Emily and Tara scored a goal each, keeping St Hugh's in the game. By half-time it had reached 3-3 with both Grantham and St Hugh's working hard to attack their opposition. Although the final score was 5-4 to Grantham Prep, our girls were on fire and really deserved a win. Penelope's contribution to the game was outstanding as due to numbers she was kept on for 3 out of 4 quarters, and although tired managed to diversify her attack and defence methods to suit each new player that came on.

Very proud of you all. Well done girls!
