U9 Report L 14-10
We took a little while to settle into the match and though we managed to score several tries through some strong running by Harrison our tackling was timid until Freddie H. put in some robust challenges. This seemed to wake us up and stronger tackles then came in from Harry H who was fearless, and Henry E using his power. Cole, Daniel and Thomas all showed some deft footwork and neat handling skills as they made headway through the Copthill defence and helped us to produce some good passing moves. The pick of our tries came through one such string of passes involving Freddie, Daniel, Harrison, Thomas and ending with Harry nipping speedily over the tryline to score. Harrison added many more tries with some weaving runs and overcoming several knocks that he picked up. Henry E also stormed through on several occasions and scored despite the attentions of several opponents. A very good attacking performance boys. The defensive side needs attention, particularly keeping our defensive line unbroken.
U10 V Copthill W 11-3
The first match of this half term was away at Copthill School. We were caught a little cold at the beginning with one of the opposition players running straight through everyone to score the first try. We woke up after that, and began to dominate the game. Morgan opened the scoring with a good solo effort, and this was soon followed by tries from Freddie R and another from Morgan. We led 5-1 at half time and continued to dominate after the break. There was some impressive tackling, effective mauling from Eddie and clever passing as we ended up with 11 tries to Copthill’s 3. A super effort and the fourth win in a row for the U10 boys.
