We had our final U9 fixture on Wednesday at Worksop College.  This was a triangular match with Ranby and Wellow, both of whom we had played earlier the season.  All the year 4 girls were involved in our last match and it was great to see the progress they have made since the beginning of the season.  Despite not starting very well, St Hugh’s soon got in their stride and moved the ball around well leading to a number of attacking opportunities.  The team adapted well to playing in different positions and really tried hard to attack and defend as a team.  We were pleased to hit the backboard on a number of occasions, beating Wellow and narrowly losing to Ranby in the final few minutes of the game.  I was impressed to see the girls rolling out and distributing the ball well in order to maintain possession for their team.  A fantastic season for the U9 girls, well done!

The U11 squad travelled to Worksop on Wednesday in their final afternoon of hockey. The festival, ran by Ranby House, got off to a positive start for St Hugh's as they played Burton Hathow. They went 1-0 up in the first two minutes, showing off some fantastic stick work. The opposition equalised with a minute to go, resulting in a 1-1 draw. St Hugh's pressed hard in the next match against Wellow, capitalising on some fabulous runs down the wing and resulting in a 2-0 win. The following match saw St Hugh's intercept a number of balls from their opponents, Westbourne, leading them in to a 1-0 win. In their game against Ranby, St Hughs played extremely competitively, successfully preventing the opposition from scoring and ending the game at 0-0. In the final match against Lincoln Minster, St Hugh's played a very attacking game, pressing the D hard gaining many goal scoring opportunities. The final whistle blew after a shortened match resulting in a 1-0 win for St Hugh's. Special mention to Gabriella, Captain, for a fantastic sporting performance and the whole team for an amazing team effort.

Congratulations to the U11 squad for a brilliant hockey season.
