MATCH REPORTS

U9A v LMS

Score: SHS 281 LM: 234

The Under 9A team put in a fantastic performance for their first fixture since lockdown against Lincoln Minster. Batting first, we certainly did not get off to a flying start - a run out on the first ball! Maybe through first match nerves and wanting to get off the mark quickly that run off the first delivery was never on the cards. After that however, we settled well into the game. Communication between the wickets was good and we notched up numerous singles and several fours in our innings. A few careless shots and lost wickets kept our total down, but we gained a lot of runs from wide balls and no-balls. We finished on a total of 281 (starting on 200) with Rory S top scoring with 13 runs.

Our bowling performance was terrific - all the practice having paid off. The accuracy of deliveries was consistent with few extras given away and useful wickets at the right time keeping pressure on their batters. We were superb in the field - alert to run-outs, catching opportunities and keeping runs to a minimum. Most memorable was one over from Eli in which we managed to take four wickets. Minster finished on 234.

All in all a very pleasing return to school fixtures for the team. Many good points to reflect on and some areas of improvement to work on too.

U9B v LMS

The Under 9B team took on Lincoln Minster and what a fantastic show they put on!

With no pair scoring less than 20, it is safe to say the team had got their eye in very quickly. With strong running between the wicket, plenty of fours and a 6 from Sam and Fergus, we finished the innings with a score of 133 (starting from 0).

In the second innings we showcased some superb bowling, with Minster scoring 55 runs. Keegan took two wickets in his first over and Fergus took a hat-trick across his two overs.

A great return to competitive fixtures, long may they continue!
