Report

It was super to have every Year 3 & 4 girls playing in matches against Lincoln Minster on Monday afternoon. The courts were busy with four teams playing 5 a side games.

The A team won the toss and opted to start with possession, having worked on centre pass tactics in training. We showed good movement in the centre court and the team worked hard to offer the ball carrier options using more than one channel. However LMS defended well and were quick to win 50:50 balls.  St Hugh's were a little too 'polite' at times but did begin to snatch loose balls as the game went on.  Olivia worked incredibly hard as centre, showing excellent movement off the ball.  However we struggled to maintain possession at times and LMS were given the opportunity LMS to pass the ball quickly up court. Their GS and GA used their physicality to their advantage and this led to them scoring.  That said, Peyia and Amelia showed good defensive skills and made some super interceptions to win back possession for St Hugh's.  Verity and Sophie supported our centre court players and although we had some shots on goal, we didn't manage to convert. Final score 4-0 defeat. Well done to all players for battling hard throughout the game.

The B team set to the court ready for action. Some lovely short passed were made between the home team players, opening up play. Unfortunately, the strong Minster defence meant few goal scoring opportunities were found. The St Hugh's girls kept momentum and intercepted many of the opposition's passes. Some quick movement by Lincoln Minster saw then score 4 goals in quick succession, ending in a 0-4 loss for St Hugh's B's.
