Y7&8 Intra-School Swimming Gala (11.20am-12.40pm)

It was the Year 7 & 8 pupils turn to represent their set in the swimming pool on Thursday morning, with all pupils entering two individuals events and a relay. For the first time ever, the Year 8 Sports Leaders organised this event during curriculum time as part of their leadership course. It was a super team effort and great to see them working together to prioritise what needed to be done.  A huge thank you to them for their efforts.

The event kicked off with the 4x1 Individual Medley events which are always closely contested. This is an event the pupils have to qualify for with the fastest times making the final. Two heats for the boys saw Lorenzo, Ben, Harry and George race in the final and what a race is was! Congratulations to Harry for taking home the trophy, swimming in a time of 1.07.37.  Ben took second place and George third.  In the Girls' event Georgina was victorious having swam the fastest IM time overall, in 1.04.53!  Amelia and Alice battled it out for second place with Alice receiving Silver and Amelia Bronze.

The individual races followed with all competitors giving their very best and it was super to see the pupils support one and other, regardless of set.  Well done to those who finished 1st in their event and achieved the fastest time.  The set relays were as competitive as ever and it always amazes me how important these events are to the children, they take great pride in representing their team.
