Eggs, Parachutes, Typhoons & a Prince

A selection of our Year 6 pupils were lucky to be invited to RAF Coningsby on Wednesday. They joined pupils from other local schools in the base’s new Engagement Centre which includes a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Learning Zone. They were put into mixed groups and experimented how to drop an egg from a height without it breaking.

They also had a tour of the base and even sat inside a Typhoon.

However the highlight of the day was meeting Prince William, who is the Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Coningsby, and demonstrated the parachutes they had devised for safely dropping the eggs.

What a day to remember!
