U10 Stamford Rugby & Hockey Festivals (A) 2.00pm

Match Report

U10 Rugby

Result: W - 4 D - 1

On Wednesday 23rd September, the St Hugh’s U10 rugby team travelled to Stamford for a fantastic afternoon of rugby. The boys played a total of five matches, showing excellent teamwork, determination and skill throughout the festival.

Our first game was against Stamford, where the boys got off to a fantastic start, securing a 5–2 victory. They demonstrated some excellent attacking rugby, with some great passing and support play.

The second match was against Copthill. St Hugh’s continued their strong form, playing with confidence and purpose to come away with another convincing 5–1 victory.

In the third game, the boys faced another Stamford side. Once again, they showed excellent teamwork and attacking ability, finishing the game as 4–2 winners.

The fourth match was a closely contested game against Peterborough School. Both teams worked hard and created plenty of opportunities, with the game eventually finishing in a 2–2 draw.

In the final game of the afternoon, St Hugh’s played Witham Hall. Despite having already played four matches, the boys continued to work hard and finished the festival strongly with a 4–2 victory.

Throughout the afternoon, the boys were challenged to develop their skills further, including being given the additional task of completing a set number of passes before they could score. This encouraged them to move the ball effectively, look for space and work together as a team.  Overall, it was a great afternoon of rugby, with the boys playing exceptionally well and thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to compete, learn and develop their skills.

Well done to all the boys involved — a fantastic effort from St Hugh’s!

U10 Hockey

Result: W - 3

The U10 girls travelled to Stamford for their first hockey festival, the team played on a larger sized pitch which was a great experience giving them the opportunity to use the space and width and put into practice their passing skills. It was fantastic to see them implementing structure to their game positionally, which gave them opportunities to break free in attack early with some fantastic passing over distance into Eme in the goal. The girls were fantastic at attacking the goal as a unit, Nora positioning post side to sweep in any missed shots, which resulted in a goal for her, along with Eme, Ottilie, and Lucy.

Well done to all the girls they've shown great improvement since the start of term.
