Result: 8-3 L

We travelled to Copthill School for the first game of the season. Full contact rugby is not allowed at the moment due to the hard ground (Copthill’s pitch was very hard, dry and grassless!) so we played a game where you could grab and hold the opposition but not bring them to ground.  We found the new concept quite tricky to start with, but soon grew into the game, which became more even. The boys are able to kick at U11 for the first time, but we soon discover that it is usually a good idea to keep possession of the ball rather than kick it to the opposition ...not mentioning any names! 
Vinnie scored a couple of excellent tries and George G made two superb breaks, the second one almost earned him a try.  All the boys tried hard with their tackling/holding, but special mention to Ralph and Harry L for their hard work. The boys are now allowed to ‘hook’ in the scrum and Arthur seems to be a natural at this. A good all round effort for the first game of the year.
