U11 Brooke Priory Netball Festival (A) 2.00pm

Match Report

A great afternoon of netball despite the wet conditions. A group of 7 girls took part in a tough group of 4 schools for the afternoon. Lots of individual moments and whole team effort. As the afternoon went on the girls settled better into the flow of playing and demonstrated their capabilities. Lots of terrific defence and turnovers. Throughout the 4 matches several goals were scored and the team should be proud of their effort.

The U11s braved cold wind and rain, wrapped up in plenty of layers, to take part in the Brooke Priory Festival. Rotating players every 5 minutes ensured everyone had lots of playing time and opportunities to play in different positions.
The team showed good effort and teamwork throughout, with some positive passing and communication despite the challenging conditions. We faced some strong opposition, including teams with a clear height advantage, but the girls competed well and showed resilience.

The U11 C team had a mixed afternoon. They were playing a triangular against Brooke Priory and Peterborough School and we played against each team twice. The girls first match was against Brooke and this was a tough match against some tall opposition but the girls played hard and unfortunately we lost. We had a little talk about strategies and improvements. In the girls next match against Peterborough was better with movements and the match was very even with both teams having a go at goal unfortunately neither side scored and the match ended in a draw. The girls then played Brooke again and this time it was like the girls were a different team with more passing and including what they had learnt in their games sessions. This match was very even despite the height difference again and the girls only lost by 1 goal which was a huge improvement from the first match. The last match was against Peterborough school and the girls continued to improve and managed to score. This ended in a win for the girls which was a nice reward for all their hard work and improvements throughout the matches. This was a great festival for the girls despite the awful weather. Great work girls.

A valuable festival experience with plenty to build on.
