Match Report
Results: W 6-0, W5-1, L4-1, L3-1
Two Burton Hathow teams came and played two matches each against mixed ability St Hugh’s teams.
Mr Jeffery’s pitch:
Game 1: I was really pleased with the style of football we played. Some really calm possession and brilliant passing saw us move the ball across the pitch with real elegance. Their keeper kept them in the game with some impressive saves. A couple of breakaway individual goals by Burton saw us come away with a defeat (1-4) despite George C’s classy finish midway through the second half.
Game 2: After a very close first half that finished 0-0, the same individual goal scorer for Burton put paid to our clean sheet in the second half. Again, we put together some great passes, and for this team it was Josh F who held his ground and slotted the ball home for us (1-3) for a deserved goal.
Both teams played delightful football and worked really hard for each other against this tough Burton side.
Mr Pickering’s pitch:
Game 1: We started brightly with some impressive passing. We soon realised that Burton Hathow had one really strong player and if we kept him closely marked then we had some freedom against the other players. Joshua F and Rory scored a couple of nice goals as we went 3-0 up at half time. The second half was a little closer but we came out on top with a comfortable 5-1 victory.
Game 2: The first half was quite tight but we held a 1-0 advantage after a well taken George C goal. George obviously found he shooting boots during the break as he added another four goals himself after half time and Edward B also scored one to make the score 6-0. A very good performance.
