U11 Hockey v Ranby (H) 2.15pm HHC
St Hugh’s fielded two U11 teams against Ranby in an exciting afternoon of hockey, with great play on both pitches.
Team 1
Harriet, Charlotte, and Hollie combined well, pushing forward into the D with some excellent attacking play. Annabel and Emila were strong in defence, and next time the team will look to support the attack from the back to give even more passing options. Harriet scored twice in the first half, and after the break Charlotte worked tirelessly through midfield. When the team used the width, they created more space and success, with Hetty adding a well-taken goal.
Team 2
On the other pitch, teamwork and spatial awareness were excellent, with the defence playing some lovely balls through to set up attacks. Goals from Harriet and Cecily were the reward for the team’s effort and determination. Their outstanding work ethic shone through as they came back from a first-half loss to secure a 4–2 win.
Overall
Both teams can be really proud of their performances. Team 1 showed great attacking play and creativity going forward, and with even more support from the back they will be an even bigger threat. Team 2’s teamwork and determination brought a brilliant second-half win. A fantastic afternoon of hockey for all involved!
