Match Report

All Year 5 & 6 girls took to the netball courts on Wednesday afternoon to play in matches against Highfields and Burton Hathow. Unfortunately, Burton Hathow had a last minute issue with transport so were unable to come with two teams. However, the girls still got plenty of court time with the St Hugh’s B and C team facing one another.

This week saw a few changes to the team make up and it was great to see how well the girls gelled together despite a few changes. I had the pleasure of umpiring the U11A games and what an impressive performance! There was some superb movement off the ball with players beginning to hold their player before making a drive. They also became quite adept at drawing the opposition away in order to create space for themselves. Every player contributed in this match and showed great versatility when rotating positions on court.

The U11B team also showed great cohesion and worked well to transition the ball up court. They also tried hard to apply stage one and two marking which we covered in training this week. There was some fabulous shooting, particularly from Olivia A, who displayed great technique! Well done.

The C team had a tougher afternoon as they faced Highfields Bs and St Hugh’s Bs! However, they worked hard on court and it was great to see Annabel and Genevieve driving confidently to receive the ball. While they were defeated by our B team, it was positive to see them score and draw with the opposition. Annabelle was nominated player of the match by Highfields. Well done! We look forward to a straight fixture against Witham next week.
