Match Report

This afternoon the U11’s travelled to Ranby for their penultimate fixture of the season.

Red 9-4 L

The red team started slow against a tall and strong Ranby side. As the match went on the girls dug deep and found their flare and movement. It is great to see how much progress they have made and game awareness they are applying. Despite the posts being U13 height the girls had some super attempts at goal with Genevieve, Harriet and Olivia successfully converting four. The driving towards the ball and opening up of space was lovely to see and the girls made Ranby work hard. A super afternoon of netball. The Opposition's player went to Penelope who has been vital to the team this season. This was her last match at U11 as she is on a rugby trip next week.

Navy 10-6 W

The navy team began their match against Ranby quickly falling behind with a 4-0 loss in the first quarter. After their first rotation with Annabelle and April now shooting, they managed to score 5 goals in the second quarter with Ranby only scrapping in 1. The defence were very strong with Verity getting some interceptions in the circle and Arabella making short strong drives up to the circle edge! St Hugh’s began to take the lead with Hetty scoring some great shots and Faith using her excellent man-on-man marking in the circle. The girls worked so hard and managed to finish the match with a 4 goal lead, ending at 10-6 to St Hugh’s! I was so impressed with the girls and it was amazing to see them working as a team, using the skills from our training sessions in their match play. Well done girls!
