Match Report
Result:
Navy 6-7 L
Red 8-2 W
This afternoon we welcomed Witham Hall for a home fixture.
The navy team played first and quickly got used to the fast pace of play from Witham. As the team got more familiar with their rotation they began talking and shutting down players. The match consisted of four quarters which allowed the girls opportunity to rotate. At half time the game was 3-1 to Witham and the girls were determined to bring it back. They did so in the third quarter and it was nail biting to the end. Tallulah had an exceptional game in her defensive positions and was on fire. Her marking and commitment to get the ball was fantastic and produced multiple turnovers for the team. The whole team had some super moments of movement down the court which was lovely to see. A whole team effort resulting in a narrow defeat 6-7 to Witham. Tallulah was awarded opposition's player of the match.
The red team had a game of two halves. The team started incredibly strong. Passes were accurate, movement was fluid and they all played their role on court. It was fantastic to see the skills learnt in training shining through their play. Olivia and Penelope began shooting and worked well together to secure 6 goals in the first half. Defensively the girls turned over the ball and whole court pressure was applied. Each player should be proud of the performance they delivered today. It was great to see the team work and commitment from each player. At the final whistle the game ended 8-2 to St Hughs. Genevieve was awarded opposition player.
Well done to all the U11 on a super afternoon of netball!
