Result: Won 313 to 243
Another scorcher for the team, travelling to Newark to play against Highfields. We fielded first and did really well to take some excellent catches and keep the opposition’s score right down. Aggressive fielding made Highfields wary of taking quick singles and meant that we kept them on the batting crease. George P came in to bowl a very good length and tempted their big hitters into lashing out, resulting in some good catches. Supported by the pace of Edward J and Edward R, the bowling throughout was accurate and effective. Our turn to bat, facing 243, the aggression continued with the bat and Tabitha was instrumental in some of our quick singles, which saw the score board race away. George C came in and smacked the ball for a couple of good boundaries and Beau caused a lot of damage with his shots over the bowler’s head, resulting in four after four. Henry and Miles did a good job tucking the ball away for some valuable runs and Faith was superb at marshaling the fielders when she was bowling, putting them in just the right places. Captained by Callan, who led really well, the whole team performed excellently to score 313 over 243 and it was a resounding victory. Well done, all.
