Match Report

Result: Drew 294-294!

A really good afternoon of sunny (for a change), at least until the drizzle started, softball cricket and everyone made a brilliant contribution. Both teams had really close games, so much so in fact that they both drew - this needed careful recounting of the scores over tea just to check but this was the fairest result given that both teams were really evenly matched. For Mr Wyld’s team, some super batting from Camilla meant that the boundary was challenged repeatedly and she put numerous 4s past the fielder. The bowling for both teams showed real improvement and it was great to see some great teamwork in the field, with some quality backing up on the stumps meaning a few run outs. It was a great afternoon to see the progress they’ve made so far this term and we look forward to seeing this continue into next week and beyond. For Miss Kilby’s team, there was some excellent batting from Noah, scoring many 4s in his overs. Some super fielding from Penelope and Arabella whilst the batting from April was outstanding! Coco showed some terrific bowling and Charlotte and Tabitha came out with some super running during their overs. The team played so well together and it all came down to the last ball when St Hugh’s we’re one run down! Henry was facing the ball and just missed it by the edge of his bat! We all thought the game was over until Edmund made a quick decision and saw the ball was miss fielded so took the chance on the run, Henry stood by this decision and sprinted to the other end. They were in by a millisecond and scored us the extra run meaning we came to a draw of 294-294! Well done, everyone!
