Match Report

On Wednesday the girls travelled to Copthill for a triangular match. The girls were split into one team for seven aside and two teams playing high five.

The seven aside team had tough opponents for the first match of the season but made great progress throughout the afternoon. The girls took on feedback and worked the ball down the court thinking about the next pass. There was excellent team work displayed and perseverance to keep heads up. Willow was on fire with her interceptions and was crucial for the defensive end today. Harriet secured 4 goals for St Hugh’s over the afternoon. A positive start, well done girls! 

The second 5 a side team, had a mixed afternoon with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. Overall, the girls played really well all afternoon despite some tough opposition. Over the 5 matches 12 goals were scored. All the girls played well as a team and contributed to the end scores. There were some great passages of play up and down the court. It was great start to our season and I am really looking forward to seeing how the girls progress throughout the season. 

The C team made a positive start to the season, securing a 1–0 win in their opening match. Although the following two games ended in defeat, the girls showed strong progress, demonstrating good movement through the court and consistent, successful passing. Libby was outstanding in defence, applying pressure and making it difficult for opponents to reach goal. Overall, it was an encouraging first netball festival and an excellent way to kick off the season.
