U11 Rugby

Result: 0-4 L 0-2 L 2-1 L

On Wednesday 16th September the U11 Boys Rugby team travelled to Stamford as part of their festival series. We entered the team into the A league to challenge the players skills allowing them to face some strong sides from across the county. The first game was against Brooke Priory with this being our first game of the afternoon the St Hugh’s boys took a while to settle in and find their feet. With the games being 12 minutes this does not give you long. There were some exciting passages of play which gave something to build on. The second game we played Witham Hall which was very close, both teams cancelling each other out through some good lines in attack and some strong tackling in defence. Missed tackles being the difference in this closely contested fixture. Going from strength to strength in the afternoon we played Ranby in our last fixture. This game really could have gone either way. The intercepted pass was the deciding factor in this game. The St Hugh’s boys pulled together and all got involved, a real team effort. Proud of how they all played and we go onwards and upwards into the next game of the season. Well done everyone!

U11 Hockey

Result: 2-0 W 4-0 W 3-0 W 6-0 W

This week's match was a festival where the team were playing short sided games against different teams. The teams first match was against Witham hall and the team started off strong with plenty of shots on goal but were unlucky against a good goalie but their persistence played off and eventually the team scored 2 goals. We were straight on against another Witham Hall team and momentum from the first match led to winning this match 4-0. The team was off and had a great talk from Miss Blee-Storey which showed in the remaining two matches on a smaller pitch with much smaller goals. The third match was against Wisbech which the team showed great perseverance and team work in scoring goals. The teams final match was against Stamford and the team really had to work hard to score in these small goals but eventually they got it in the net. I want to say it was a fantastic afternoon for the team showing that their hard work is showing in some good hockey. A special mention goes to Cecily who scored in every match and ended up scoring 8 goals in the afternoon. But the whole team showed great team work which led to these results. Well Done team.
