U10/11 Swimming Gala v Burton Hathow (H) 3.00pm
Match Report
It was our U10 and U11 Swimmers turn on Friday to open the season with a friendly gala against Burton Hathow. With a team of eight swimmers, led by Hollie, competing across all four strokes as well as team relays, it was an ideal opportunity to observe the swimmers in action and identify key areas of strength as well as areas in need of development. Alongside the team were a further nine pupils who competed in intra school races, also across all strokes. This gave them great exposure and experience and we look forward to planning a second gala with Burton Hathow where they will face the same opposition. This was clear evidence that our pupils are not only showing great dedication to this sport out of school but also benefiting hugely from our swimming offering at St Hugh’s. Seeing some swimmers being picked on the spot to fill a lane and taking to the blocks with confidence demonstrates their willingness to push out their comfort zone, make mistakes and learn from the experience.
